I'm Atte, a designer and developer. Originally from Hamburg, where I lived for many years, I'm now based in Espoo, Finland. I like understanding how things work, and that often leads to trying to build or change them myself. Sometimes the starting point is an idea; sometimes it's something that could work a little better.
My interest in 3D printing began in 2005, when I saw HAW Hamburg demonstrate it during the Night of the Museums. The idea stayed with me. Years later, I found the RepRap community and built a Mendel90 3D printer from scratch. That gave me a way to learn by making, testing and adjusting things myself, and eventually led to experiments with much larger printers.
These days, I use my homelab as a place to experiment with AI, automation and self-hosted software. My side projects have also taken me into 3D avatars and the practical problem of keeping server hardware cool and quiet. I like being able to move between code, electronics and physical design as the idea develops.
Open-source tools appeal to me because I can look inside, adapt them and learn from what other people have built.
I care about how something looks and feels as much as how it works. A small detail in a layout can hold my attention just as easily as a technical problem. This portfolio collects some of the things that curiosity has led me to make.
Let's build something useful.
If something here sparks an idea, or you're working on a problem you'd like to talk through, I'd be happy to hear from you.
